Bench press. Deadlift. Squat. Overhead press.
The basics have been around since Eugene Sandow first lifted circus dumbbells as part of a national strongman act; and for good reason – they work.
The rising popularity of sports such as strongman and Crossfit have led to the growing realisation that the staples will never be beaten, but they can be tweaked to suit different demands.
Enter the Viking Press.
Shoulders, being the most mobile joint, are the most common joint to be injured in the gym, followed by the lower back. The Viking Press moves the hands into a neutral position, placing the shoulders into a more stable position. The gap in the handles allows the head to remain in the same position, bringing an end to the constant hassle of getting just the right amount of arch for optimal pressing; meaning you can focus on what you came to do – locking that weight above your head!
Not to be confused with a rehabilitation or training-wheel style regression like a goblet squat, the Viking Press will feed your inner meathead as you lock out weights overhead in the style of Hafthor “The Mountain” Bjornsson and Eddie Hall.
Combined with a Torsonator™, the Viking Press attachment is a versatile tool that can be used from the ground all the way to head height for improving strength at a variety of angles and strength curves; as well as for additional movements such as cleans or squats.
